认识之所以要不断反复：其一， 主体对客观事物的认识受到客观事物本身的发展过程及其表现程度的限制。物质世界是无限的， 客观事物作为系统也是多方面、 多层次的。客观事物存在着一个产生、 变化和发展的过程， 其本质和规律也有一个暴露的过程。所有这些， 使得人类的认识具有反复性。其二， 主体对客观事物的认识还受历史条件和科技水平的限制， 人类的认识只有在不断打破限制的基础上才能不断得到发展。这也使得认识具有反复性。其三， 主体对客观事物的认识还要受到主体本身的限制。这些限制包括：人的实践范围、 知识水平、 认识能力、 实践能力、 立场、 观点、 方法以及生理素质。所有这些， 也使得认识具有反复性。
