化学家lewis故事？
路易斯1875年10月25日生于马萨诸塞州。他的启蒙教育来自于父亲弗兰克和母亲玛丽,3岁就会读书,自幼聪慧好学。他13岁时入内布拉斯加大学预备学校,后转入该大学,2年后又转入哈佛大学。1896-1899年,短短3年时间他相继获得学士、硕士和博士学位。
距今110年前,年仅24的路易斯在物理化学家理查兹(T. W. Richards,1868-1928)先生的指导下,完成了有关电化学电势的博士论文。这里,有必要提一下理查兹教授,他因精确测定大量化学元素的原子量获得1914年诺贝尔化学奖。路易斯获得博士学位后,与同时代许多有抱负的科学家一样,决定到国外做博士后研究。他先到当时世界物理化学的中心——德国莱比锡大学,向杰出的物理化学家奥斯特瓦尔德(F.W.Ostwald,1853-1932)学习,随后到哥丁根大学师从能斯特(W. Nernst,1864-1941)先生深造。
路易斯回国后,1901年在哈佛大学任讲师,1904-1905年任菲律宾计量局局长,1905年他到麻省理工学院任教。1912年,他担任加州大学伯克利分校的物理化学教授兼化学系主任。1912年6月21日,他与玛丽(M.H. Sheldon)喜结连理,育有两儿一女。
1946年3月23日,路易斯在进行荧光实验时,猝然去世,享年71岁。加州大学伯克利分校于1948年修建了以其名字命名的路易斯会堂,以示纪念。
