为什么是history teacher而不是historical teacher？
History teacher 和 historical teacher两种表达都有，但意思不同。
history teacher
history 是“历史”的名词，和teacher一起，形成“历史老师”的合成词。
historical teacher

为什么是history teacher而不是historical teacher？
history 和 historical 词性和词义不同
这里，我们暂时只考虑两者最常用的意思和用法。
history n. 历史；历史学；对过去事情的记载；过去的事
historical adj. (形容词)历史的，有关历史的，历史上（著名）的历史学的，有关历史研究的基于史实的，史实的，史事的，历史根源的（书籍、电影等）有根据的，真实的，非杜撰的过去的依据历史发展叙述的历史题材（为基础）的
由上可见：
history 一般作名词用，指过去发生的事情，或者历史学科。
historical 通常作形容词，主要指历史上真实发生的，有史实可查的，非杜撰的。其作用是用来区别于虚构的事件。
翻译时一定要考虑词的内部含义，不能机械地从词面上对应。
比如说，多个近义的英文单词意思相近但不相同，往往可以被翻译成同一个汉语词汇，译后结果一样，实质上抹杀了原近义英语单词之间的差别。但我们选用的时候不可忽略这个差别。
hitory 和 historical 都可以大致地翻译成同一个汉语词汇“历史”，但如上文所述，意思还是不同的。我们在翻译的时候，最好先用最通俗的语言解读一下原词，再来选用适配的另一语种词汇与之对匹配。例如：
“历史老师”的意思是“从事历史学科研究和教学的老师”，而不是历史上记载过的老师。
这样，就可以很容易地判定，历史老师应该翻译成 history teacher 。
