1、链路管理协议(Link Management Protocol),是自动交换光网(ASON)控制平面协议栈的一个重要组成部分,主要实现了光网络链路管理的功能。
LMP是GMPLS协议栈的重要组成部分，目前最新LMP协议规范是IETF 2003年10月制定的，它主要实现了光网络链路管理的功能。目前网络路由的计算依赖于对网络拓扑和资源的了解，这些信息可以通过集中式的中心网管系统或者是分布式的链路状态路由协议获得。
在这两种方式中，获得网络链路状态信息的第一步是发现本地节点所有链路和邻居节点的连接状态。在自动交换光网中，每一个网络节点必须知道本地所有链路的状态、各种链路参数以及链路的远端属性，而这些参数是基于手工配置和某种在相邻节点上运行的自动协议的结合。
LMP协议便是为这种目的而设计的通用协议，同时还包括其它一部分链路管理的功能。
LMP协议运行在一对网络节点之间，实现一组核心功能和一些附属功能【5】，我们的一致性测试主要验证的是核心功能。
2、参数化模块库LPM（Library of Parameterized Modules），LPM最初是作为EDIF标准的附件出现的。LPM库中包含的逻辑，所有的综合工具都采用同一 种行为描述方法，生成相同的EDIF文件，实现设计输入和网表的正确映射。
