摄影和油画都是视觉效果的造型艺术。它们之间有相同之处，也有不同的之处。在表现主题思想和塑造艺术形象上，都是给人们带来欣赏性的审美享受。摄影和绘画是两种不同的艺术表现形式，它们运用各自的技法和艺术风格，创作不同效果的供人们欣赏的艺术作品。
一、摄影艺术通过构图、取景位置与角度、光线的处理等造型技法，表现主题内容审美艺术性。摄影艺术要求表现的人物、事件、环境必须是真实的，它只能表现现实生活中各方面的题材，而不能表现已经过去或尚为发生的事件。摄影主要有构图、光线、色调的造型手段，形成画面的内容和形式。
二、绘画是运用构图、色彩、线条来表现画面的造型艺术。绘画作品是通过细致的观察，以特有的笔触重叠来表现物象的光与色。物体除了受到光源色的直接照射外，还受到周围环境中其他物体的色彩照射与影响。物体亮面因强烈的光源色照射，其他物体色的影响显得微弱，而在暗部，其他物体色的影响则较显著。
