外语是一门语言学科，是以交流为目的。把外语学习融入到具体的外语情境中，往往能取得事半功倍的学习效果。语言的这种交流只有融入到具体的文化背景中，才能更好的沟通和理解。
就拿我们汉语来说，传统上有十里不同音，百里不同俗。当然在普及普通话的背景下，较好的解决了人们沟通中不同音的问题，但百里不同俗，在不同的风俗背景下，同样的词语可能包含的意思不完全一样，比如南京的“马自达”。
把视野放宽到全球，不同的国家，完全不同的语言，完全不同的文化差异，只有深入了解需要背后的文化差异和风俗习惯，才能更好的理解外语的意思，而不能只是机械的背单词、记语法。语言的学习是一种情境的学习，对外语背后的文化情境深入了解后，学习外语就会像学习母语一样自然流畅，水到渠成。
