朱姆沃尔特级驱逐舰对于美国海军的意义是什么？
朱姆沃尔特级驱逐舰对于美国海军的意义大概就是这类战舰其实是一个坑。朱姆沃尔特级驱逐舰是冷战结束后，美国海军在世界范围内找不到对手，便提出“由海向陆”这个依靠强大海军进行全球干涉作战思想的产物。
这个作战思想的最初产物就是著名的武库舰，在美军“21世纪先进作战舰艇”Surface Combatant for the 21st century（SC-21）计划中，美军提出了武库舰的设想，但是SC-21并不是武库舰一种计划，后来美军否决了武库舰，通过了DD-21这个方案。
但是DD-21这个方案计划，核心是强调对陆攻击能力，同时保持强大的防空和制海能力——也就是说，这个计划就是：高大全，什么活都能干，而且什么活都很强大的新世纪“战列舰”。
相应的，由于功能太全，要求太高，DD-21方案的战舰排水量实在太大，因此技术难度和费用之高，让美军也实在承受不了，于是DD-21被一刀咔擦了，换成DD-21（X）粉墨登场，也就是如今的朱姆沃尔特级驱逐舰。
但是朱姆沃尔特级最大的问题在于，美军不知道拿他来做什么。在设计朱姆沃尔特级的时候，美军最初想让他成为一款全能型战舰，什么都往上堆，但是由于战舰吨位有限，堆上去的设备又非常有限，于是就沦为鸡肋战舰。
不可否认，朱姆沃尔特级驱逐舰使用的不少技术都很先进，但是有的时候先进不代表实用，尤其是朱姆沃尔特级驱逐舰的**不清，作战任务不明，造成战舰的费效比很低，这也是美军从一开始计划采购32艘，一下子砍掉29艘，实际上如果不是因为当时已经有3艘已经完成了相当比例的建造工程，这3艘朱姆沃尔特级估计美军也不想要。
