为什么abhor是憎恶的意思？
没有为什么，就像汉语的“憎恨”从造字到发展就形成了这种意思一样。Abhor 与 dislike, hate. Disgust, loathe, detest, 属于同义词，只不过 abhor 侧重于出于道德原因而产生憎恨/憎恶的情感 。如：He was a man who abhorred violence and was deeply committed to reconciliation. 他是一个憎恶采用暴力而坚决主张和解的人。If nature abhors a vacuum, journalists abhor a transition, when there is little news to cover. 好比自然界拒绝真空一样，新闻工作者则厌恶没有多少新闻可供报道的过渡时期。
